What you'll learn: 

We're abandoning the standard line breaks and traditional text wrapping layouts! Rachel Yallop shares her strategies for adding interest by arranging writing in creative layouts!

• Balancing white space with line weights
• Balancing legibility with visual interest
• From concept, through drafting, to final design: how to work through the process.
• How to adjust letterform slant when not writing on a straight baseline (even with spirals!)
• How to problem solve tricky overlapping ascenders/descenders

• This is a live online group workshop.
• Live lessons will be recorded and available for replay.
• You will be able to see a close-up view of the instructor's desk.
• All handouts, links, and recordings are found in the course portal.

About Rachel:

Rachel is a freelance calligrapher specializing in expressive styles mainly working on logos, packaging, promotional material, and stationery. Rachel has taught a wide variety of calligraphic and design disciplines in art schools, conferences, and workshops both in the UK and internationally. The driving force in her work is line: the shape, the texture, and in particular, the tension between one line and another. She strives every day to make that elusive perfect mark and letterform.
